Maxi Dress Mini Tutorial

Thanks for all the comments on the vintage sheet yellow maxi dress.  I really appreciate it and didn't expect such a positive response, thanks!

For those that expressed interest in a tutorial to sew their own, I threw together a quick mini tutorial which is mainly text of how I made my dress.

I actually have 2 dresses cut out down on my kitchen counter to make a full PDF pattern with photographed step by step instructions and printable pattern pieces with 4 sizes.
This full pattern will hopefully be available by the end of the month, and available for purchase.

But for those that feel they don't want the full boat, here's the mini tutorial, I did it really quickly so don't expect much!
Print setting to "no scaling" or it may cut off the sides.

  4. You are a rocsktar. Seriously. I am on the lookout for a great border sheet... I have one that has a 60s illustration of Paul Revere and a 50 star American Flag. I might make that into one for the 4th next year. Ha!

  6. Thank you for sharing this tutorial! Your dress is so awesome!!! And I'm just this moment realizing that I think I have a vintage sheet (yellow, even) with a border print stashed somewhere in my fabric closet. Yay!!!

  7. How generous! Thanks so much for posting!

If you need any help with laying out the full-on pdf file or watermarking your images/etc. I'd be glad to lend a hand. I'm a professional graphic designer with the expensive design software, so a lot of time the technical things that stump people usually take me no time at all.

  8. I would love to know how you determined the dimensions/shape of your pattern pieces to be able to create a pattern to fit me. LOVE the dress! I look forward to seeing the pattern!
