Ugly Christmas Sweater: Maternity

I've always loved the idea of ugly christmas sweaters and had the chance to go to a girls night this year and wanted to have something to participate with.
But being pregnant kind of threw a twist in finding a thrift store Christmas Sweater, so I just bought a men's huge sweater and added some ugly dorkiness to it.
I was trying to get ideas to work in the pregnant belly to the overall ugliness, and decided to go 3D and make the bump the nose of Rudolph.
I used a brown t-shirt for the head and ears, the antlers are fleece, and the eyes are appliqued muslin.
The pupils were big buttons and the nose is a stuffed satin ball.
I had plans for the back as well, but ran out of time as I was making it the afternoon before the party.

It's actually pretty comfy as even maternity clothes are getting too tight on the baby gut.
Too bad the nose gets in the way. :)
Well hope everyone has a great Christmas if you celebrate!
I've got to go make a cheesecake and hope I don't ruin it!

  1. Hehe, that is the best ugly Christmas sweater I've ever seen. Love the 3-D aspect.
Good luck with the cheesecake! They really aren't too difficult. =)

  7. I think you look way too cute in that sweater to make it look ugly!
I think you should wear it all the time!

    1. Ha! At the party I was telling a story and my friend interrupted and said: "I'm sorry, I just can't take you seriously right now." Maybe it would help with my kids though, they seemed more interested in me wearing it and might listen better. :)

  8. That's awesome! I went to my first ugly sweater party this year and since I didn't have one, I took a plain sweater and embellished it a little to make it an ugly Christmas sweater. Yours is really cute!
