Rockstar Jeans

Allow me to introduce you to our big brother James. He is exactly what every big brother should be: protective, funny, and helpful. As a child he would take me trick-or-treating. In middle school when it was difficult to make friends, he would check me out of school and take me to movies. In high school he would take me to all the concerts I wanted to go to, because he knew I shouldn't be staying out late by myself. Now that I'm an adult with a kid of my own, if crap happens, he's the first one to come running. He is the funniest person in our family. After a family dinner, the whole group usually just ends up listening to James tell stories and laughing until their faces hurt. James is just wonderful.

He plays in three different bands and he loves to wear anything I make for him. I made him jeans with some unusual details: a gusseted crotch and darted knees. These details don't really provide anything extremely special, I just think they look cool. Also, he's six and a half feet tall, so it's difficult for him to find jeans that are long enough. So, two yards of denim, an hour and a half of working time, and one very happy brother.

  5. Great jeans! Cool brother! How, oh how, do you do those darted knees? I love them for my little man and can't quite get my head around it! Is it awfully rude to ask you to share?

    1. It's exactly like a regular dart. Except I made the dart on the outside instead of the inside, then stitched it down so you see two stitching lines creating a skinny arrow shape.
