More baby clothes.
These are made with knits, stretchy and comfy. I'd like to add a few more shirts into the mix, but for now this is what she'll be wearing.
HATS
These little knit hats were made using Ashley's tutorial here.
The only thing I changed from the tutorial is adding the buttons in the center of the flowers.
ONESIES
Using fabric paint and freezer paper, I added little forest silhouettes in different colors.
If you have a Silhouette cutter, these would be super easy with the iron-on transfer, or even cutting freezer paper then painting them on. Oh I wish I had a Silhouette, but of the 15+ giveaways, I've never won.
So I cut the shapes out the old fashioned way...scissors.
If you like my little sketches, you can print them for your own projects here. I'm still trying to sketch a platypus that I like to add in pink.
For the hedgehog, I just used a detail brush and painted the face, since there's no way I was going to cut such tiny details out of paper.
For the dots on the toadstool and pupils of the owl eyes, I use a hole punch on the freezer paper and iron them on for small perfect circles.
PANTS
Then to finish it off, I made a bunch of little knit pants. My husband was teasing me saying she'll just wear sweats every day, but what else is a baby going to wear? Some of the knit was purchased, the rest was upcycled from t-shirts.
I just used another baby pair of pants as the pattern. Here's a mini-tutorial for using one pair of pants as a pattern.
I used 1/2" wide elastic for the waistbands. I think each pair of pants ended up costing around $.50 or less.
I sooo love these!!! :) It makes me want to run to the thrift store and snatch up some t-shirts! And I am loving cute owls these days! :)

ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, Jess. My favorite go-to outfits for my babies were soft pants with a onesie or the long gowns. She's gonna be a comfy baby!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness I want to try the freezer paper thing. We have a new Jo Ann's opening this Friday, maybe I'll have to look for the fabric paint.
ReplyDeleteUsually if we want something on a shirt we use Sharpie's, except for Dr. Seuss day we added a little fabric paint. I haven't uploaded any pictures from it yet though.
