Swim trunks inspired by vintage cuts and European styles
for little guys planning to make a splash this summer.
You probably already know how much I love sewing for boys and designing vintage inspired kids clothes.
These swim trunks have been in the making for some time, and I am so excited to share the pattern with you.
{Actual swim trunks will be available to purchase later this week}
These swim trunks are inspired by my dad who grew up when short shorts were the standard for sports and the pool.
My dad also introduced us to James Bond, who's classic, vintage swim trunks also inspired this new pattern.
And now you're own little guys can rock the pool or beach in their unique swim shorts!
This pattern is designed for experienced beginner sewists and doesn't require a serger!
If you've been intimidated by creating swimwear, this is the perfect project to get started with.
No elastic to line arm or leg openings and a simple design make these trunks really easy to sew!
The pattern has versatility for three different variations:
solid, side stripes, and curved top.
You can also add a drawstring or go with the simple waistband.
The pattern includes sizes 2T to 5T.
These two older boys are 6 and 7 years old wearing size 5T.
I assumed these wouldn't look right over a swim diaper so I started the sizing at 2T for toddlers and younger boys.
One of the best things about sewing your own bathing suit is the fact you get to customize the colors and look.
I prefer a more simple look with solid colors and no licensed characters or kiddie prints.
But most of all, these are just so cute on little guys!
Bring on summer!
