Peek-a-boo Swim Suit
4:00 AMAmy at Nap Time Crafters is having a spring blog tour of her Peek-a-boo Pattern shop!
Today's stop is one of her many swimsuits for little girls.
I reviewed Amy's Sun n' Fun Swimsuit for toddler girls all the way up to size 12.
It's a basic swimsuit with the optional ruffle shoulders and bow back detail.
It's nice to have a basic pattern as a base to use for future variations!
Following the pattern's size chart I sewed a 18 month size for Ellie.
It fit well and I think next time I'll cut a little extra room in the bum as she's not potty trained and has to wear a swim diaper that gets big and bulky when wet.
For now it's a great fit in the bum over a dry regular diaper.
I chose not to add the ruffle sleeve or bow in the back, so I cut the back scoop 1.5" taller on the back.
The design is basic and simple, but sewing swimwear can be tricky and frustrating.
Here's a great link for tips on sewing swimwear if you're just starting!

Ellie loved her new swimsuit and didn't want me to take it off!
You can also enter a giveaway to win ALL the patterns featured on the spring tour!

Very cute swimsuit and model! These are great patterns! Thank you for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd totally love to try out the bathing suit!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the two swimsuit patterns I don't have from Peekaboo. :) Last year was my dive into swimsuits... For Nikki, who was a year old, I made the Kwiksew suit pattern--crossed straps and ruffles on her diapered bum! This year, well, I have the fabric, but haven't picked which pattern yet. I figure that their Mommy can pick the pattern, and I'll just whip it up! (I'm just their Auntie who takes care of them while Mommy and Daddy are at work.)
ReplyDeletecute! perfect for a ballerina too! my fave would have to be one of the boy's cardis or hoodies...hard to decide!
ReplyDeleteI would love to learn how to sew a swimsuit. It seems so intimidating, but yours looks cute!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the swimsuit. I think my fab pattern now is the new cardigan!
ReplyDeleteI love the swimsuit pattern and plan on picking it up even if I do not win.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable, and seems like it would be a great idea for the gangly girls. My sister is a really skinny 6 year old, so swimsuits are too big on her... Looking through the Peek-A-Boo patterns though, I'd like to see the "Hangout Hoodie." It's adorable! I love that it could be for a girl or boy, too... Hmmmmmm.... (See, this is the problem with following all the awesome bloggers - it makes me want to do nothing but buy patterns and fabric & sew all day!)
ReplyDeleteI love the cute hoodie!
ReplyDeleteI love this little swimsuit pattern. It's surprisingly difficult to find toddler swimsuits that have an appropriate amount of coverage. The back bow detail is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI like the Harper dress. Actually I have used these patterns and love them. I also like that if you have a problem/question she spends the time to help you through it. peggie dot loden @gmail dot com
