Denim Trousers

I've always loved trousers for their tailored finish and flattering fit, but, I also love jeans for their durability. So, I've made a pair trousers with some gorgeous dark denim. They have a high waist, low-cut front pockets, back welt pockets, and pressed creases. I also really love a wide boot cut for the leg. It makes me think of all the golden actresses of the seventies like Faye Dunaway and Katharine Ross.

ReplyDeleteI think your trousers turned out so cute! I love how denim trousers are dressier---but you're still wearing jeans. So you can totally get yogurt smudges from toddler fingers on them, and still be "fancy." :)

ReplyDeleteI love this idea, you can look pulled together, but still be hauling littles around and not worry about your pants!
It's a heavy weight denim with no stretch to it. I like it that way so the waist doesn't stretch out and fall down after half a day.

ReplyDeleteI got it at a business called The Cotton Shop (in Provo, UT). They mainly carry quilting fabrics, but they always have denim remnants (1-4 yards) in various colors for $3.79 a yard. I always get my denim from them. (You can't beat that price!)

ReplyDeleteLooks great Lynette! I think it's also refreshing to see pants that are a wider leg...since some of us have thighs that are larger than our calves and skinny jeans and leggings seem to be all the rage.

ReplyDeleteHey! I don't really have any way of sharing patterns digitally. I just hack out all of my patterns on newspaper. I don't stay up to date on commercial patterns, but I would suggest checking out Burdastyle for something similar.
DeleteThis is what I want!!! I'm looking to sew myself some jeans that are a modern twist on a 1940s look. Thank you so much for the CottonShop hint... I might just have to drive an hour to get me some denim! If you come across the time, I would love to read a post on hints for drafting a similar pattern!
