I finished a new batch of backpacks late last night and I think some turned out so cute. I kind of get attached to them, and the history of their fabrics, so I'm surprised I'm selling some of them. But the new fish were ordered by my friend's son who needed a Blue Fish and so I made a gold fish while I was at it.
My sisters and I are getting together to offer all our handmade items in a boutique! Heather makes handmade jewelry with authentic stone and fossil.
Lynette makes handmade totes, satchels, clutches, and she'll be featuring some clothing too. She specializes in vintage and unique designs.
I'll have my Primo Bambino stuff for kids.
So it will hopefully be pretty great. You can find unique, handmade, items for yourself, teenagers, and your kids. So I recommend you run to Costco across the street and get a hot dog and drink for $1.50 and maybe a churro for only $1.00 and then come hang out with us. I think my favorite aspect will be hanging out with my sisters and any friends that stop in!
This cute purple fabric came from the Claudia raid. As I was sorting everything, I found a long chain of pleats she'd made. I set it aside, thinking it would be cute on the hem of a little dress or skirt. Later when I found the coordinating fabric I was excited. 
I finally upgraded my sewing machine! My old sewing machine was a piece, I got it for my 18th birthday and it is really basic. I'm going to hold onto it for my kids to learn on, but I'm really excited about my new purchase. It's a BERNINA! My mom taught us to sew on her 1130, and I found a great bargain on the step down, the 1120. I love it and am so excited.
I also scored an older Bernette by Bernina 234 serger for only $45! What a steal.

These little pajamas for my son were inspired by some fabric in the Claudia raid. My aunt had a sack of left over fabric from drapes she'd made. They were ivory and silky. Rhett was running around playing in all the fabric as we were dumping them out, and he loved the silky drapes, rolling in them and carrying them around. So I thought he would love pajamas out of the drapes with the silky side against his skin. 
As I thought about what kind of pajamas to make, a scene from Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken popped in my head. Sonora wakes up Al early in the morning and he gets out of bed and has these weird sack underwear on. The pajamas would be Al's underwear!!! Basically a sack with the button in the back to get into. I found this add from the 1920s which is what I was thinking of. 
We filled my car with trash bags of fabric. It was awesome!!!!! We brought it home and spread it all over the floor of our craft room in my mom's house. THERE WAS TONS. We all went through to pick out what we especially wanted, then we'll put the rest on a shelf for anyone who would like it. We are thrilled to get so much fabric. As we were all sorting through, all these projects were popping through our heads. 
I got a photo frame on clearance. The background is fabric I cut to fit. For the assignments, I cut up a paper grocery bag 8 1/2 x 11 to go through the printer. I tore the edges and just taped them to the fabric. The idea is you write the names of the people assigned to each task with a dry erase marker on the front of the glass. That way you can easily wipe it off and rewrite the new assignements the next week. 
I've been sewing a lot lately, and I wanted to make something for me. I've had this fabric for a while. It reminds me of Aztec culture or something. First I made it into a simple, elasticisized waist skirt and I hated it. The fabric was too heavy and didn't flow, and the print was too large and looked stupid scrunched. So I decided to turn it into a pencil skirt. It's pretty simple. Because the print is so large I just made a back seam with the zipper and sewed darts at the sides, front quarters, and back quarters. The waistband is thin.
