First off, the three winners for the
Seam Allowance Guide
were selected by random.org and have been emailed.
Thanks for all who entered and especially Hollie for offering our readers the giveaway!

The rest is just an update on the simple blouses I've recently made:
french knot blouse
green simple blouse
red dot maternity blouse

Some readers asked to see the tops laying flat to get an idea of the shape of the pattern.
(The maternity has the shirring in the back so it's side seams aren't flat and you'll notice it's quite a bit longer than the french knot to cover the bump)

But I also took a photo of my pattern pieces to help give you an idea better than the actual garments.
left: blouse front you'd cut on the fold
right: blouse back also cutting on the fold

I used a button up shirt from H&M to get the shape for the sides, then just rounded the neck large enough to go over my head.
I'd say the regular (non-maternity) version works best if it's just about your chest measurement.
You don't want it tight across your chest, but if it's too loose that's when I think it becomes the box top.
I'd go about 1" extra room from your maximum chest size through the top torso, then curve in slightly for the waist.

Hope this helps!

  1. I use wrapping paper for pattern pieces too. Good to see I'm not alone. :)
